“We knew there was something to the idea, because our restaurant team members have been making sandwiches with our ingredients behind the scenes for years,” said Jill Preston, director of corporate communications. “We also understand that people aren’t always in the mood for pasta, so we’re offering the same fresh, tasty ingredients found in noodle dishes in the form of a sandwich.”
The Mmmeatball Duo was inspired from the restaurant’s Spaghetti & Meatballs dish and includes five large meatballs, spicy marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese on a ciabatta roll.
The Wisconsin Cheesesteak Duo was inspired by the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese dish, and includes sautéed beef, mac and cheese sauce, cheddar jack cheese and sautéed red onion, red bell pepper and mushrooms on a ciabatta roll.
The Med Duo stems from The Med Salad and includes chicken, mushrooms, spinach, red bell pepper, cucumber, red onion, Zippy Med dressing, cilantro and feta wrapped in flat bread.
Each Sandwich Duo includes a side soup or salad and has a suggested price of $5.50 to $7.25. They are currently available in all Ohio, Kentucky and select Colorado locations with plans to expand in additional markets later this year. Noodles & Company operates more than 225 neighborhood restaurants in 18 states.
