OAK BROOK, ILL. — McDonald’s Corp. said global comparable sales increased 5.5% in October and 5% year-to-date. System-wide sales for restaurants worldwide increased 7.7%, or 7.6% in constant currencies, during October.
“McDonald’s Plan to Win continues to drive strong global comparable sales increases,” said Jim Skinner, chief executive officer. “The ongoing strength of our results reflects the power of our customer-focused plan, supported by actions that enhance the relevance of the brand.”
U.S. comparable sales at McDonald’s were up 5.2% on the popularity of classic core favorites, relevant new products and value as well as the Monopoly game promotion and featured products, the company said.
European comparable sales were up 4.8% on performance in France, Russia and the United Kingdom. Also in October, McDonald’s said comparable sales increased 6.1% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa led by Australia, China and Japan.
