NEW HAMPTON, N.Y. — Balchem Corp. has acquired Innovative Food Processors (IFP), a privately held manufacturer of agglomerated and microencapsulated food and nutrition ingredients, New Hampton-based Balchem said June 2.

Based in Faribault, Minn., IFP has customized processing capabilities focused on agglomeration and microencapsulation technologies. The company has more than 35 years of experience selling into and collaborating with global food, beverage and nutrition companies. PrimeCap encapsulated ingredients from IFP are designed for use in the bakery, confectionery, meat, nutraceutical and seasonings categories.

Balchem will integrate IFP into its Human Nutrition and Health business segment. Balchem has four business segments: Human Nutrition and Health, Animal Nutrition and Health, Specialty Products, and Industrial Products.

“This acquisition creates a broader ingredient-systems platform for Balchem that will help our customers improve their consumer food and beverage offerings,” said Mike Size, vice-president and general manager, ingredient solutions for Balchem.
