Snyder’s-Lance, Amplify find new owners

Just before the year wrapped, two companies stepped forward to grab hold of two businesses with grain-based foods connections. First, Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., agreed to acquire Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. for approximately $4.8 billion. Charlotte, N.C.-based Snyder’s-Lance is a manufacturer of snack products sold under such brands as Snyder’s of Hanover, Lance, Cape Cod, Pop Secret, Emerald and others.

The Hershey Co. entered an agreement to acquire Amplify Snack Brands on Dec. 18.

Then, The Hershey Co., Hershey, Pa., said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Amplify Snack Brands, Inc. in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $1.6 billion. Austin, Texas-based Amplify manufactures snacks under the SkinnyPop, Paqui, Tyrrells and Oatmega brands.
