SANDY SPRINGS, GA. — Brill Inc., a subsidiary of CSM Bakery Solutions, has announced plans to cease production at its frozen facility in Tucker, Ga., by the end of the year. The plant makes a variety of baked foods, including cookies, decorated cakes and laminated dough.

The closing will impact 240 employees, Brill said.

Brill’s Tucker facility is one of eight manufacturing plants that the company operates in the United States. The company’s other facilities include a second plant in Tucker as well as facilities located in Colton, Ga.; Bonner Springs, Kas.; St. Paul, Minn.; Lancaster, N.Y.; Dallas; and Pleasant View, Utah.

“The decision to suspend manufacturing at this facility comes after a comprehensive review of manufacturing capabilities, and our determination that Brill can better serve its customers more efficiently from elsewhere in its supply chain,” the company said. “Brill believes this re-alignment of its manufacturing footprint will strengthen Brill’s operations and fortify its position as the most efficient supply chain in the bakery products industry with the capability of serving customers with superior bakery products and ingredients.”

Brill has manufactured products at the frozen facility since 2001.

Last year, CSM Bakery Solutions rebranded its North American operations under the Brill brand, a move the company’s top executive said would revitalize one of baking’s “iconic and respected brands.” Harry C. Brill founded the company 90 years ago with a vision toward creating products that would improve the bakery experience. The brand has grown to become one of the key players in cakes, icings, glazes and toppings.
