Food manufacturers innovate in the hot cereal category.

Kellogg Co. - RXBAR

RXBAR, a subsidiary of Kellogg Co., is expanding into the hot cereal category with the launch of RX A.M. Oats. Packaged in single-serve cups, the products contain gluten-free oats, egg whites, dates and nuts. Flavors include maple, apple cinnamon and chocolate. RX A.M. Oats may be prepared with hot water, in the microwave or as overnight oats. Each cup provides 12 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber.

PepsiCo, Inc’s Quaker Oats brand is introducing Hot & Spicy Jalapeño Cheddar Instant Grits. Naturally and artificially flavored, each 28-gram serving contains 100 calories and 2 grams of protein.

Purely Elizabeth is bringing cauliflower to breakfast with its new Cauli Hot Cereal. Made with a freeze-dried diced cauliflower base, the grain-free, single-serve hot cereals mimic the look and mouthfeel of traditional oats, according to the company. Cauli Hot Cereal is paleo and keto friendly, certified gluten-free, Non-GMO Project verified, vegan and made with organic ingredients. Sweetened with coconut sugar, both varieties contain 8 grams of protein, 15 grams of net carbs and 190 to 200 calories.

Cinnamon Almond Cauli Hot Cereal is made with almond protein powder, coconut flakes, almonds, freeze-dried cauliflower, coconut sugar, freeze-dried banana, chia seeds, flax seeds, cinnamon and coconut milk powder.

Strawberry Hazelnut Cauli Hot Cereal contains almond protein powder, coconut flakes, coconut sugar, freeze-dried cauliflower, hazelnuts, freeze-dried strawberries, chia seeds and flax seeds.

Kellogg partnered with Pinkfong, the South Korean educational entertainment company that released the video, to develop new Baby Shark Cereal. It features colorful, berry-flavored loops mixed with marshmallows and contains 150 calories per serving.

The certified gluten-free, non-G.M.O. bars come in three flavors: peanut butter dark chocolate, caffe mocha almond chip and coconut almond chip.

The bars are made with a resistant dextrin binder made from organic tapioca and include plant-based ingredients such as almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, cocoa powder and strawberries. Each soy- and dairy-free bar provides eight grams of fiber and contains three to four net carbs.
