OAKLAND, CALIF. — Michael J. Caughlan has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of McKeany-Flavell Co., Inc., a provider of commodity market expertise. He succeeds Raymond A. Washmera, who will remain chairman and chief executive officer.
Mr. Caughlan has been with McKeany-Flavell since 2003, most recently as vice-president. He contributes regularly to established trade publications and provides market analysis and strategic forecasting to companies in the food and beverage industry.
He received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international business from Washington State University.
Mr. Washmera has been with McKeany-Flavell since 1978. Earlier, he was a sales manager at Saroni Sugar & Rice Co. for four years.
McKeany-Flavell also announced that Stephen W. Vuilleumier will remain as executive vice-president. Mr. Vuilleumier previously was senior vice-president and partner — global sweetener specialist. He heads the company’s information sales division, and he has provided counsel to food and beverage companies. He also is involved in the sweetener markets, and since joining the company in 1976 he has cultivated McKeany-Flavell’s information offerings in sweeteners and other ingredients.
He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in business administration from Long Beach State University.
