Just like father and son

Nation Pizza and Foods’ legacy goes back almost seven decades to when the Bauer family opened Father & Son Pizzeria in Chicago in 1947. Father & Son soon became a local favorite in the retail freezer case. In fact, the business became so successful that the family started Nation Enterprises in 1970 to mass produce crusts to keep up with demand for its products.

Over the years, the company evolved from being a foodservice pizza component vendor in the 1980s to a frozen pizza operation in 1987. Throughout the years, the company expanded and grew, developing patented processes for making pizza, doubling the size of its Schaumburg, IL, facility and diversifying into new product categories such as appetizers and sweet goods.

However, one thing remains the same. The Bauer family is still actively involved with father Marshall stopping by occasionally to see how the company is operating while his son Jay is actively involved as CEO.

“We’re still a family-owned business that has grown as our customer base has increased,” explained Vince Nasti, vice-president of operations. “The culture of the company remains the same and reflects the values of the Bauer family.”
