SACRAMENTO, CALIF. — Caffe Ettore Inc. on April 10 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. Caffe Ettore operates two bakery cafes in California and supplies cakes and baked foods to Nugget Markets located throughout northern California.

According to the filing, Caffe Ettore has an estimated 100 to 199 creditors, with estimated assets of between $1 million and $10 million and estimated liabilities of between $1 million and $10 million.

Caffe Ettore was founded in 1985 when Ettore Ravazzolo bought Viva Croissant, a small croissant shop in Sacramento that he had been working at. Mr. Ravazzolo changed the business’s name to Ettore’s European Bakery.

During the 1990s, Ettore’s Sacramento shop was expanded twice, while a second location was opened in Roseville, Calif. It was also during this time that the bakery-cafe partnered with Nugget Markets.
