PepsiCo, Inc.’s Frito-Lay North America business unit is launching Lay’s Flavor Icons, a new line of limited-batch potato chips inspired by dishes served at restaurants across the United States: Lay’s Nashville Hot Chicken, inspired by Party Fowl in Nashville; Lay’s Kettle Cooked New York Style Pizza, inspired by Grimaldi’s in New York City; Lay’s Philly Cheesesteak, inspired by Geno’s Steaks in Philadelphia; Lay’s Wavy Carnitas Street Taco, inspired by El Torito in Los Angeles; and Lay’s Chile Relleno, inspired by Cocina Azul in Albuquerque, NM. Lay’s Flavor Icons chips are expected to roll out nationwide by the end of July.
Mondelez International, Inc. is introducing Ritz Cheese Crispers, a thin and crispy snack offering formulated with potato, wheat and cheese. Flavors include cheddar, and four-cheese and herb, which combines cheddar, Monterey jack, Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. Both varieties contain 140 calories, 2 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber per 21-chip serving. Ritz Cheese Crispers are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.62 per 7-oz box.
Continental Mills, Inc. has expanded its Krusteaz brand with the launch of Energizing Oat Bites Mix. Available in chocolate chip oat and cinnamon oat varieties, the new products require no baking and are ready in 30 minutes. The mixes are made with 8 grams of plant-based protein per serving and feature whole grain oats, flaxseed and chia. The mixes are available at Walmart locations nationwide at a suggested retail price of $3.99.
Cali’flour Foods is expanding its lineup of low-carb flatbreads with a new sun-dried tomato variety. Made with cauliflower, mozzarella cheese, egg whites and sun-dried tomatoes, the flatbreads contain 60 calories, 5 grams of protein and 3 grams of net carbs each. Cali’flour Foods flatbreads are gluten-free, grain-free, keto friendly and low glycemic.
The American Halal Company, Inc. is adding two new frozen entrees to its Thai cuisine product line. Both offerings are halal and certified gluten-free.
The Thai Basil Noodles entree features grass-fed beef, tamari, Thai basil, red chilis, red bell peppers and bok choy. Each serving contains 350 calories, 17 grams of protein and 12 grams of sugar.
The Thai Red Curry Chicken meal includes Thai red curry swirled with coconut milk, red bell peppers, green beans and white meat chicken on a bed of jasmine rice. Each serving contains 350 calories, 14 grams of protein and 5 grams of sugar.
Tia Lupita Foods has teamed with Renewal Mill to launch new upcycled tortillas, expanding the company’s grain-free cactus tortilla line. The tortillas feature Renewal Mill’s organic okara flour, a high-fiber, gluten-free flour harvested from the pulp left over from soy milk processing. The okara flour is blended with chia seeds, avocado oil, cassava flour, lime juice, tapioca fiber and nopales (cactus) to create the tortillas. Each upcycled tortilla contains 45 calories, 2 grams of fiber and 6 grams of net carbs per serving. The product is vegan, gluten-free and Non-GMO Project verified. Tia Lupita’s upcycled tortillas will be available in packs of 10 on Amazon this month and will roll out to retail shelves later this summer.
