ATLANTA — Leading bakeries will exhibit a variety of new products at the 2019 National Association of Convenience Stores Show (NACS), taking place Oct. 1-4 in Atlanta.
To deliver on the retail channel’s needs, food companies are reformatting their most popular products into on-the-go snacks and introducing traditional baked foods in on-trends flavors.
Flowers Foods’ Tastykake and Mrs. Freshley’s brands will showcase new bakery products at NACS Show 2019. Tastykake will introduce a line of pound cakes in individually wrapped 3-oz packages. Pound Kake Junior features a classic sour cream pound cake flavor while Lemon Pound Kake Junior includes a tangy lemon flavor. In addition, the brand’s Pecan Swirls have been scaled down for on-the-go snackers. Available in a two-count package, the pastry roll contains cinnamon and pecan bits.
Mrs. Freshley’s has teamed up with The Hershey Co. to present Hershey’s Triple Chocolate Cakes and Reese’s Peanut Butter Flavored Cupcakes. The Hershey’s snack cakes contain a chocolate-flavored creme filling and chocolate drizzle. Available in a two-count 4.5-oz package, Reese’s cupcakes contain two chocolate cakes filled with peanut butter and topped with peanut butter icing and sprinkles.
Hostess Brands, Inc. is adding two new snack cakes to its lineup: Triple Chocolate Brownies and Cream Cheese Coffee Cakes. Looking to tap into consumer demand for wholesome, homemade baked foods, the bakery created Triple Chocolate Brownies that include chocolate ingredients and are free from artificial flavors and colors. The snack cakes contain chocolate chips and a chocolate icing for added texture and flavor.
Leveraging the success of its Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cakes, Hostess is adding a Cream Cheese variety to its range. Two cakes made with cream cheese are included in each 2.89-oz package.
Rise Baking Co.
Rise Baking Co.’s Best Maid and Angela Marie’s Kitchen brands will introduce new snacks at the trade show. Best Maid will roll out Cotton Candy Crispy Bites, a crisped rice dessert that contains sweet cream butter, marshmallows and colorful sprinkles. The bites are available in 48-oz trays that can be repackaged and sold in cups that contain nine bites for a suggested retail price of $1.99.
Two varieties of edible cookie dough will be on display from Angela Marie’s Kitchen. Available in chocolate chip and rainbow brownie, the portable treat is made without eggs and is safe to eat straight out of the bowl. Both flavors are available in 3.5-oz packages and have a suggested retail price of $2.99.
Loacker will showcase the Duality Chocolate Bar that includes two layers of chocolate — white caramel and 38% milk cocoa — melted over a crispy wafer. For added flavor, the snack also contains hazelnut bits. Loacker Duality Chocolate Bar has a suggested retail price of $1.50 to $1.99.
A mini version of 7 Days’ filled croissants will debut in three flavors — chocolate cream, vanilla, and cherry and vanilla — at the show. Wrapped in a convenient grab-and-go pouch, each 2.12-oz package contains five mini croissants.
